Fox Kids Network, the satellite and cable television
channel, has turned to Firefly Communications to help boost
audience awareness and build its presence within the broadcasting
Launched in October last year, Fox Kids broadcasts a daily 13
hour schedule of live action shows, animated cartoons and
educational series aimed at children aged between four and 15
Fox Kids has not used a PR agency since its launch. PR and
promotions manager Katie Bourne said that the channel had decided
to retain a consultancy to develop its relationship with young
viewers, their parents and the trade media. ’We want to let them
know we are here and what our programmes are,’ she said.
The account win is a significant departure for Firefly, which is
more usually identified with hi-tech PR. However, agency director
Kieran Moore pointed out that Firefly has already managed
consumer briefs for clients such as Compaq and GQ magazine.
