Simon Evans is taking the newly created role of head of business media at the beginning of July.

Reporting to head of UK corporate communications and public affairs Jo-ann Robertson, Evans joins Weber Shandwick after nearly three years at The Independent on Sunday.

Robertson said: ‘Increasingly our clients are looking for business-focused media relations. The great thing about Simon is that he’s worked in business previous to getting into journalism.’

Robertson added that she is looking at ‘driving and changing’ Weber Shandwick’s corporate offering, which is currently 14-strong. She took over last month.

With more than eight years' media experience, Evans was previously senior city correspondent at London’s free daily business newspaper, City A.M.
