Paul Farrelly, the Independent on Sunday’s deputy business editor is to become City editor of the Observer. He will join the paper in May replacing Heather Connon who is taking maternity leave. Farrelly, a one-time Reuters employee, is known to be opposed to the Independent’s deal with Bloomberg to supply news to its City pages in return for branding.
