MIDAS acts on behalf of the ten Local Authorities of Greater Manchester. It appointed Biss Lancaster after a five-way pitch. The agency will handle its regional, national and international PR.

MIDAS’ director of external relations Zoe Ensor said she hoped the agency would 'generate a step change increase in the volume of positive news coverage for the business'. She praised the agency’s ideas to help promote Manchester as a leading European business location, as well as a complementary proposition to London.

The Biss Lancaster account team will be headed up by MD Brian Beech and include the consultancy’s Salford-born chairman, Graham Lancaster.

Beech said: ‘Manchester is a world-class city that offers people a great place to live, work and visit and critically, it is a fantastic environment for business. It has an incredible talent pool of people; its airport and transport infrastructure compete on a global level and it boasts a diverse and high quality portfolio of business properties.’

Manchester-based PAPR has also been retained by MIDAS to handle the property side of the business.
