CMP, the US technology information group, is poised to select a PR

company to flag up its arrival in Europe.

Barbara Kerbel, the company’s head of PR in the US has asked GCI, Banner

and Text 100 to submit proposals.

Kerbel returned to the States last week but is expected to make an

appointment shortly.

The chosen agency’s first task will be to launch Information Week, a

fortnightly IT news magazine in the UK.

The title, which launches next month, is a joint venture with Emap

Computing and will rival Computing and Computer Weekly.

The agency will target a business audience, particularly IT managers in

large corporations in a bid to raise the magazine’s profile.

It is understood the brief will then widen to become a general

pan-European brand building campaign focusing on Germany and France.

CMP launched the US edition of Information Week in 1985 and the magazine

now boasts a circulation of 350,000.

It also runs several on-line publishing ventures including NetGuide

Live, a daily on-line guide to the net and an Internet-only television

service called First-TV.
