The agency, headed up by former Daily Telegraph sports editor David Welch, will work with the Great Britain hockey squads in the run-up to the Games.

Welch previously worked on the Daily Telegraph's coverage of the Olympics from Barcelona 1992 to Athens 2004.

DWM will work with the EHB to uncover stories and features, raise the profile of individuals within the sport and spread the message of hockey's continuing revival across the media.

The partnership with DWM intends to establish hockey as a sport clearly focused on medals at the 2012 London Olympics. It will also aim to enhance the domestic and international profile of the sport going forward and generate interest in the sport's individuals as athletes, role models and sponsorship opportunities.

David Welch already represents Olympians including Lucinda Green and Lisa Dobriskey, the reigning Commonwealth 1,500m champion and World Silver Medalist, and plans to work with a number of other sports to support their Olympic comms.
