IHG hires Tippett PR to promote InterContinental London Park Lane to Londoners

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has hired Tippett PR to help promote its luxury Mayfair property to Londoners.

Tippett PR has been handed a 12-month brief to provide strategic comms advice and PR support for the InterContinental London Park Lane hotel.

The agency was founded earlier this year by Karen Tippett, the former head of PR for Virgin Holidays.

InterContinental London Park Lane’s director of comms Esther Williamson said she was keen to encourage Londoners (both consumers and influencers) to visit the property’s restaurants, bar and spa.

‘The hotel is five-star, and I think some people might wonder if they are allowed in. I want to break down those barriers,’ she said.

The campaign will centre on the hotel’s Theo Randall Italian restaurant, the Cookbook Café’s weekend buffet, the spa and the bar, which will be redeveloped this year.

Williamson said she spoke to several agencies about the work before selecting Tippett PR. Williamson and Tippett have worked together in former travel industry roles. Neville McCarthy Associates previously handled comms for the hotel since June 2008.

IHG is planning to open a second InterContinental property in the capital by the end of 2011. It will be based in Westminster.

Tippett recently became a member of The Travel PR Experts network, founded by ROR Communication’s founder Rachel O’Reilly. Sarah Bolam, founder of Sarah Bolam Communications, also joined the network this month.
