Korean industrial giant Daewoo has seconded one of Hill and Knowlton’s

most senior European executives to review its European marketing and PR

operations. The appointment is thought to be worth several hundred

thousand pounds to the agency.

Terence Billing, executive vice-president of H&K in Frankfurt, has been

seconded for six months to the office of Daewoo chairman and founder

Woo-Chong Kim, as a senior assistant.

The agency has a long-standing relationship with Daewoo in the US, where

it provides corporate PR advice.

The appointment will focus on Daewoo’s automotive business, which

launched in Western Europe in 1995. The business is active in 12

European markets including the UK and is looking at another five.

Billing’s remit is to advise on the whole gamut of corporate and

marketing communications - including advertising and direct marketing.

Daewoo plans to set up co-ordinating offices in Eastern and Western

Europe - both of which are likely to have a marketing/communications

function.
