Citigate Communications has scooped an estimated pounds 200,000 fee account from NatWest Ventures, the venture capital arm of NatWest Group.

Citigate Communications has scooped an estimated pounds 200,000 fee

account from NatWest Ventures, the venture capital arm of NatWest Group.

The appointment, which was announced last week, will involve Citigate in

promoting NatWest Ventures in several European countries as well as the

City and across its regional offices in Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham,

Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham.

Marketing director Helen Walsh explained that the agency had been

briefed to provide strategic communications advice and media relations

support through its affiliates in France, Spain, Italy and Germany,

where it begins operating in October.

As well as top corporations, the agency will target owner managed

businesses, intermediary advisers like accountants and solicitors and

the corporate finance departments of merchant banks.

NatWest Ventures’ PR was previously handled for a year by Financial

Dynamics, although its brief was limited to media relations. ‘We decided

we wanted to expand public relations and take a more holistic approach,’

said Walsh. Incumbent FD was invited to pitch for the enlarged account

along with Citigate and Fishburn Hedges.

Walsh added that Citigate’s European contacts, its network of regional

branches and the quality of the team assembled for the pitch were major

factors leading to its appointment. The account will be led by Jonathan

Clare, deputy managing director of Citigate Communications and Citigate

Corporate’s managing director Simon Brocklebank-Fowler.
