NBC Europe has poached Jane Gash from Turner Broadcasting and appointed

her as its first head of European Media and Communications. Gash will

join the European arm of the US television network NBC Superchannel on 7

October.

The 35 year-old deputy vice president, international PR at Turner

Broadcasting has been hired to oversee PR for NBC’s pan-European

marketing drives.

Reporting to director, station marketing, Barry Leffler, Gash will also

aim to promote NBC’s business programming CNBC and raise awareness of

its entertainment shows like the European travel guide The Ticket.

The station is undergoing a gradual re-branding away from the

superchannel name as part of a bid to win more viewers across Europe.

NBC has a technical reach of 150 million European viewers and is growing

at a rate of 50,000 new cable homes a week.

Part of the Carlton Television launch team, Gash joined Turner

Broadcasting two-and-a-half years ago.

Reporting to senior-vice president, international PR, Geraldine Sharpe-

Newton, Gash’s remit ranged from pan-European campaigns, issues

management and PR for licensing and merchandising.

NBC’s PR has been managed by press officer Michael May and press and

promotions co-ordinator Sarah Holmes who is being promoted to network

manager, UK and Ireland. Gash is expected to build the team to three on

arrival.
