FRANCE: The French culture ministry’s department of historical

monuments is looking for a team of PR and advertising agencies to

promote its 107 monuments across the country during the tourist

season.

The account, believed to hold a combined budget of pounds 250,000,

involves devising a communications strategy around scheduled events like

concerts and cinema projections against backdrops including the Arc de

Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and Chambord Castle in the

Loire Valley.

The department for national monuments has employed PR agencies in the

past to handle specific events. It is expected to appoint an agency

within the next few weeks.

- The department of heritage management, also a part of the French

culture ministry, has hired Moreau Lascombe GCI to promote its national

heritage weekend following a competitive pitch. The weekend is a

biennial event during which all of France’s national monuments, both

privately and publicly owned, are open to the public.
