PayPal rival Moneybookers hires Seventy Seven PR to build brand among consumers

Moneybookers, a PayPal rival, has appointed Seventy Seven PR to build its brand among consumers.

The digital payment provider awarded the retained brief to Seventy Seven PR following a four-way pitch.

The agency will run a press office as well as launching a series of campaigns across the year, designed to get the brand written about outside of the money pages.

Moneybookers was recently named as the fastest growing private equity-backed company in the UK, according to The Sunday Times and Deloitte 2010 Buyout Track 100. Its key product is the eWallet, a digital account that allows online shoppers to safely and easily pay for goods and services as well as transfer money to other users.

Head of marketing and PR Julian Artopé said the company’s ambition was to become the preferred online payment option among consumer and retailers.

Meanwhile Seventy Seven PR has hired Rachel Moule as account director. She will work on Nintendo, Hamleys and mflow. She was previously PR manager at Sony, where she was responsibly for the Walkman brand and launching the Sony electronic reader. Prior to this, she worked at House PR and Borkowksi.

She will report into managing partner Alan Twigg.
