ADELAIDE: Burson-Marsteller has pulled out of Adelaide following an

agreement with its South Australian manager Chris Chalke who will run

the agency independently as Chalke and Associates.

Details of the agreement are undisclosed. The move follows a global

review by Burson-Marsteller and a decision to focus only on larger key

markets.

B-M will maintain its offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Chalke

and Associates will remain an affiliate of B-M and will operate from the

same offices.

B-M denied speculation that it was also pulling out of Bangkok and Kuala

Lumpur. In a bid to differentiate between markets it has divided the

area into three sub-regions each led by a vice-chairman. Chris Savage is

responsible for Australia, Steve Lyons for North Asia and Alan

VanderMolen for South Asia.
