Westminster City Council will retender its public affairs account
next month after deciding to take political monitoring in-house.
Incumbent agency Advocacy, which has held the account for almost three
years, is expected to repitch.
The council’s public affairs brief currently encompasses monitoring and
lobbying but, as part of its ongoing cost-cutting exercise, the council
will be handling monitoring in-house from next month. Fees have been cut
back to an annual total believed to be pounds 12,000.
Head of communications, Simon Morrison said: ’It’s standard procedure to
review contracts at the end of their life. We are looking at the best
value for our rate-payers.’
