US healthcare specialist Chandler Chicco has poached Manning

Selvage and Lee’s European healthcare director Howard Godman, UK

healthcare director Henrietta Noyes and two other staff to establish its

London office.

The departures will be a blow to MS&L, whose income from its healthcare

division accounted for just over pounds 1 million, or 37 per cent of UK

revenues in 1996 according to the 1997 PR Week healthcare league

table.

Chandler Chicco was founded in 1995 by Bob Chandler and Gianfranco

Chicco after they left Burson-Marsteller in New York, where they headed

the healthcare practice. Since then the agency has grown to an income of

pounds 4.3 million, with a staff of more than 40.

The London office will be the centre of Chandler Chicco’s European

operations, with Godman as managing director and Noyes as director.

’We have looked to Europe, via London, as a way to optimise our ongoing

involvement with current clients, while at the same time fulfilling our

mission of staying current with the rapid changes occurring in the

healthcare market place,’ said Chandler.

As well as Godman and Noyes, MS&L has lost account director Sally

Baxandall and account director Clare Crossley to the agency’s new

office.

Godman and Noyes’ responsibilities at MS&L have been combined with the

appointment of Frances Beves as head of the London healthcare

practice.

She joins from the agency’s New York office.
