Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

The Government is poised to consult on its plans for a statutory register of lobbyists.

Cabinet Office minister Angela Smith told MPs last week: 'The Government has committed to introduce a statutory register of lobbyists. It plans to consult on its proposals as soon as possible.'

Edelman has appointed Kajsa Wilhelmsson as director of European health public affairs, based in the agency's Brussels HQ. She joins from European thinktank Health Consumer Powerhouse.

The Cancer Campaigning Group is preparing to hand out a three-year public affairs contract. The group, a coalition of 40 national cancer charities, represents service providers, research and campaigning groups for cancer patients and their families. The incumbent on the account is Luther Pendragon.

Portcullis Public Affairs has hired Euro RSCG Apex associate director Stephen Day to the role of managing director. Day has previously worked at Fleishman-Hillard and Weber Shandwick.

Shelter has appointed Matt Davies as public affairs manager. He reports to Caroline Davey, deputy director of comms, policy and campaigns. Davies was previously at the Royal College of Surgeons.
