Freud Communications is said to be in danger of losing one of its most
high profile accounts - the movie star restaurant Planet Hollywood.
The agency is understood to be involved in a dispute with the restaurant
chain over client conflicts.
Freud Communications has been appointed to handle PR for two themed
restaurants which could emerge as potential rivals to Planet Hollywood.
Planet Hollywood’s in-house press office refused to discuss its
relationship with the agency but confirmed Freud Communications was
still working for them ‘at the moment.’
The two are still believed to be in discussions, the outcome of which
should be known within the next few days.
The public relations business for Planet Hollywood, jointly owned by
Sylvestor Stallone, is estimated to constitute just two per cent of
Freud Communication’s total fee income, which stood at just over pounds
1.6 million in 1994.
However, the London-based restaurant is regarded as one of the agency’s
most prestigious accounts.
Matthew Freud, managing director of Freud Communications, declined to
comment on rumours that he had fallen out with Planet Hollywood’s Earl -
an old friend of Freud’s.
