Nokia Mobile Phones has appointed Ogilvy and Mather to co-ordinate
its Asia-Pacific PR activities, in a bid to increase its media
The agency has been given a strategic brief which will cover 14
countries from India to Australia, including the key market of
Ogilvy and Mather was one of five agencies briefed to pitch for the work
(PR Week, 8 August).
Selected local agencies are expected to continue to work with their
country-level Nokia management. It is thought, for example, that
Shandwick’s year-old relationship with Nokia in Hong Kong and Taiwan
As well as supervising the tactical work of local agencies, it is
thought that O&M will be involved in organising pan-Asian sponsorship
deals for Nokia.
