Steve Reardon, information director at the department of Social
Security, has resigned. He is the fifth senior government press officer
to leave since Labour came into government. Reardon, 50, has headed
information at the DSS for nearly ten years, and has worked for the
Government Information Service for nearly 30 years. In a statement his
department said that Reardon ’recognises the need for a change of style
and approach in the information directorate’.
