RNID hires its first MD of external engagement to oversee comms shake-up

RNID has selected its first MD of external engagement to oversee a major restructure of its marketing departments.

The charity, which works on hearing health issues, has poached the MS Society's director of fundraising and marketing Sherine Krause.

Krause was at the MS Society for three and a half years. Previously, she was director of marketing and fundraising at Trinity Hospice and deputy development director at the Royal Opera House.

Krause will head two directorates: fundraising, public engagement and research (including media and PR), and policy and government relations. These disciplines previously sat in different places within the organisation, but they are being brought together to achieve greater integration in the RNID's comms.

Krause will have responsibility for a team of 80, and will develop the charity's external engagement strategy in line with its new corporate plan.

The plan, which was launched last year, has three aims: to ensure rights and opportunities for the deaf and hard of hearing; to promote hearing health and prevent hearing loss; and to remove stigma around deafness.

Krause said: 'We are in the early stages of an internal restructure. We are looking at how the different departments can work together most efficiently and we are considering a rebrand.'

RNID CEO Jackie Ballard said: 'This new post is designed to strengthen our engagement with all our supporters and encourage the public to value their hearing and take action on hearing loss.'
