Centron International, a computer network provider and reseller of
network products from companies including IBM, has appointed Arrow
Public Relations to handle its UK PR on fees of around pounds
Arrow is Centron’s first retained agency. The company has hired other
agencies in Arrow’s Worldcom network to handle PR in selected markets
across Europe as part of a pan-European PR push.
Centron helps large businesses implement computer networks and has
signed a deal with IBM to allow it to supply IBM products as part of its
solutions for clients.
Centron International is a joint venture formed early in 1997 through a
partnership between US company Centron and Kent-based Xyratex, an
information storage company. The new company now operates in the UK,
France, Germany and Italy.
Arrow has been charged with building Centron’s profile across the
business press as both a supplier of consultancy and network services
and as a reseller of IBM, 3Com and Bay Networks products. Its team
reports to Gillian Veitch, European marketing communications specialist
at Centron. Veitch said: ’We have dabbled with PR before but have never
previously signed up an agency. We are trying to raise brand awareness
and build our image to make us known.’
Ken Deeks, managing director of Arrow, said: ’It is a very good account
and we are looking forward to working with Centron.’
