Car distribution and drinks bottling group Inchcape has promoted
Stephen Clark to the post of communications director for its
newly-formed motors company.
Clark is currently Inchcape’s corporate affairs director for the greater
China region. The announcement follows Inchcape’s decision to demerge
into three companies and the planned departure next year of its
corporate affairs director Paul Barber (PR Week, 13 March 1998).
Clark has spent the last 16 years in Asia. Before joining Inchcape six
years ago he managed Shandwick’s Hong Kong office, then called Gibson
PR, and was client services director for Hill and Knowlton in Asia. He
will head a four-strong corporate affairs department for the
London-based motor company which sells cars through a series of dealer
franchises with companies such as Toyota.
Inchcape’s marketing services business, which is also being demerged,
has appointed Wong Ai Kwei as its Singapore-based corporate affairs
Ai Kwei is currently corporate affairs director for Inchcape in South
East Asia. The third company to be formed from the demerger, a
Chilean-based bottling operation, will announce its communications team
later this year.
As part of the restructuring Inchcape’s group employee communications
manager Sian Purslow and information officer Louise Clamp will be
Inchcape’s Hong Kong team will also be broken up and its Japanese
corporate affairs manager is also leaving.
