Last week started badly for Edelman public affairs director Nick
Archer as he fended off calls at home from the media asking whether he
had resigned yet. Several journalists had confused Archer with Prince
Charles’ assistant private secretary Nick Archer (no relation).
The Prince’s aide had been thrown into the media spotlight after being
accused of mental and sexual harassment by a Palace secretary.

She is now seeking compensation for constructive dismissal.
Meanwhile, Edelman’s Archer had to face media questioning over something
he knew nothing about - until he read the papers.
Several reporters, including those from the Sunday Express and the
Guardian, unable to extract details from the Palace, had turned to
directory enquiries in their efforts to get the low-down on the Prince’s
Edelman’s public affairs head is no stranger to muddles caused by his
surname. He used to work for Lord Archer and everyone assumed, wrongly,
that they were related. Nick is also quick to assure me that he does not
drink, and never has drunk, a Flaming Ferrari.
