The special adviser to former Welsh Secretary Ron Davies is to

become the new head of Cardiff-based public affairs outfit Welsh

Context.

Huw Roberts joins the agency next month, replacing current head Andrew

Davies. Davies is standing as the Labour Party candidate for the safe

Labour seat of Swansea West in the Welsh Assembly elections later this

year.

In his new role, Roberts will report to Leighton Andrews, chairman of

Welsh Context’s Westminster-based parent agency, Political Context. He

will oversee four staff, working on clients which include HTV, National

Museums and Galleries of Wales and Elf Oil. Roberts will also join

Political Context’s board. Roberts worked for Davies from May 1997 until

last autumn.

His previous jobs include a stint as communications head at South Wales

Electricity, and top PR posts at ITN and the Welsh Development

Agency.

Welsh Context was set up over a year ago in the run-up to the

establishment of the Welsh Assembly.
