Flack: (Saving) on expenses - Circus, London WC2

Reviewer, Tom Hargreaves, board director, Publicasity

- What is it good for?

Circus is a new restaurant in Covent Garden that is trying to be a little bit different. The clue is in the name as it's not just a restaurant but somewhere providing Burlesque-style entertainment as you eat in glamorous space-age surroundings. So if your client is up for a lively dinner, this is a good place to go.

- Signature dish

The overall theme of the food is North American, featuring anything from a corn bread starter to a jambalaya for main. Overall, the starters seemed to outperform the mains, but the pork belly main course was beautiful.

- Who's the boss?

Adam Davies, who also owns Fuel, a bar and nightclub in the Covent Garden Piazza.

- Tips please?

Take care in the toilets. The space age design and labyrinth of glass mean it is far too easy to walk into the wrong ones by mistake.

- What's the damage?

A starter and main course should set you back approximately £22, while desserts are reasonable at about £7.50.

Circus, 27-29 Endell Street, London WC2H 9BA, 020 7420 9300.
