Can Associates founder Claire Powell was speaking to PRWeek after she was awarded 'substantial' damages from former client Katie Price, aka Jordan.

Price agreed to pay out last week, after claiming that Powell had an affair with her ex-husband Peter Andre.

The allegation was made on The Graham Norton Show last October.

It was not broadcast, but a number of newspapers printed it.

Powell said: 'I had to go to court to clear my name and the company's reputation, owing to a vast number of untruths.

'In this current economic climate, these claims can affect a company so much.'

Powell said she had kept the court case out of the media until the ruling last week because 'we want our clients to be in the press rather than us'.

However, she added: 'Once the case was settled, we thought it was important to address it.'
