The European Space Agency has hired broadcast PR and video news
release company Medialink International to raise its profile on TV
networks across the world.
Fees amount to more than pounds 200,000 annually for the two-year
account which was won following a three-way pitch.
Incumbent Worldwide International Television pitched against World
Television and Medialink. Worldwide International Television will
continue to handle some TV news promotion.
Medialink has been hired to improve the space organisation’s relations
with broadcast media across Europe. The space agency wants to be as
prominent in Europe as NASA is in the US.
The VNR distribution company will promote the space agency’s pounds 1.8
billion space programme, which includes the development of NASA’s Ariane
launcher, Meteosat weather satellites and its space science
’We will help them plan stories, distribute footage to a target list of
broadcasters, handle media relations, offer spokespeople for space
related issues and stage outside broadcast where they are involved,’
said Medialink senior vice-president Stuart Maister.
