Text 100 faces a tough round of account reviews this month from two of
its top hi-tech clients, Apricot Computers and Attachmate.
Apricot, which has retained Text for the last ten years on a brief
covering technical and trade PR and corporate positioning in the UK, has
asked the agency to repitch along with two other consultancies.
Late last year the company launched an assault on the consumer PC market
with its new MS540 home PCs and strengthened its business presence with
a new series of desktop computers.
Marketing communications manager Keith Corbett stressed that the
decision to review Text’s contract, which is worth in excess of pounds
100,000, was not a reflection of the agency’s performance.
‘We are entering a period of expansion in areas where we don’t have a
lot of experience,’ he said. ‘We want to test that we are doing the
right thing.’ He said a decision on the appointment would probably be
made early in February.
In a separate move, Text has been called in by PC software developer
Attachmate to repitch for the UK tranche of its pan European account.
