15 March The first panel I attended looked at the use of apps for extending the brand. One of the most interesting points in the session was the debate over the use of apps for engaging consumers. The general consensus is one most consumer technology marketing people have heard for years: 'The days of brands doing traditional marketing are gone. They need to engage customers in social dialogue and provide utility, or they won't have lasting relationship.'

12 March The modern day tee-total pub for the office worker masses, popular social media sites, are awash with pub bores peddling witless one-sided opinion for the sake of a corporate online PR pound. 'Excellent post Bob, you make some great points which I've expanded on in my blog.'

Facebook threat

11 March I've written a lot recently about what I feel is a movement by Facebook to increase its hold on the social media world and become the hub for all we do online. So I was interested today to see a quote from CNN's US president Jonathan Klein suggesting that although rival Fox is currently winning the ratings war in the US, their real threat comes from Facebook.
