One of Europe’s biggest market research companies Taylor Nelson AGB

has hired Kestrel Communications/Worldcom to create an international PR

programme for its latest TV audience research tool.

Worldcom is the world’s largest association of independent PR

consultancies with claimed billings of pounds 87 million.

Television Audience Research and Information System (TARIS), which

launched in the UK in May, is a system capable of monitoring digital

transmissions.

Digital satellite transmission begins this year and digital terrestrial

starts next year. Conventional measurement techniques cannot distinguish

between the five or six channels transmitting on the same frequency.

The account involves rolling out TARIS internationally to a trade

audience, concentrating on the emerging TV markets of Eastern

Europe.

The company uses Brunswick for city relations and PPR for UK trade press

relations. Neither are affected by the appointment.
