Top European employment agency Adecco Alfred Marks is about to

launch a major PR drive to educate the public about its activities. It

has appointed PR agency Spreckley Pittham to carry out the work.

The agency emerged victorious after a three-month long review involving

14 PR consultancies and eight pitches.

The agency’s main task will be to educate the public as to the nature

and scope of Adecco Alfred Marks’ business and the changing nature of

employment.

PR manager Julie Murray said: ’People think that we supply the odd

temp.

What they don’t realise is that this week we have 25,000 temps out

there.

About half our business comes through the high street. The other half is

with large businesses where we often supply 1,000 people a day.’

Murray added that Spreckley Pittham would target ’high level media’,

such as the Times, the Telegraph and the Guardian, with information

about the increasing popularity of contract based working. Attitudinal

research among senior human resources directors will spearhead the

campaign, which will break next month.

Spreckley Pittham presented against Charles Barker, Band and Brown and

Shandwick in the final shoot out.

The company plans to appoint an advertising agency in the next few

weeks.

Adecco Alfred Marks is the second largest employment agency in the world

after Manpower. The company was formed through the merger of Adia Alfred

Marks and ECCO Employment last June and renamed in January.

Its combined turnover exceeds pounds 300m and it boasts over 200

branches in the UK.
