The Virgin Hotel Collection, a marketing consortium for exclusive
country house hotels, has appointed The Communication Group as its first
PR agency. TCG’s task is to attract other suitable hotels to the
grouping and to raise its profile among leisure and corporate consumers.
The group comprises 39 hotels (including the The Close in the Cotswolds,
above) and aims to grow to 50 in the next 18 months. The latest to join
the collection is the Palazzo Sasso near Naples, which will be brought
under the Virgin banner this autumn. The account is worth around pounds
70,000 a year in fees.
