Transdev, one of France’s top three public transport companies, is

negotiating with Grandfield to handle its expansion into the UK

market.

The financial PR and public affairs agency won the account to support

Transdev’s pounds 41 million agreed takeover for bus company London

United Busways, announced earlier this month.

But Grandfield is now negotiating to convert the project into a retained

account when talks with London United are completed in early August.

London United already operates local services in west and south west

London and also runs the Heathrow to central London Airbus services.

Transdev is part of the French financial services group Caisse des

Depots Consignations.

In the next stage of its UK expansion Transdev is bidding, as a lead

member of the Arrow consortium, to build and operate Nottingham’s light

rail system.

Grandfield is working for Transdev on a project basis on the London

United deal.

The agency’s PR division advised on media relations at a national,

regional and trade press level, while the public affairs division

ensured that all politicians with an interest in the areas served by

London United were given advance warning of Transdev’s intentions.

’Entering the UK public transport market is a significant strategic move

for us and it was important that this transaction be properly

positioned,’ said Transdev chairman Philippe Segretain.
