British meat exporters have called in Brian Basham’s PR firm Warwick Corporate to put pressure on the Government to provide compensation after being left with pounds 35 million worth of unsold stock in the wake of the BSE crisis. The fee is thought to be around pounds 10,000 a week. The agency was called in three weeks ago by the International Meat Trade Association, and was behind the ‘great British beef giveaway’ stunt in Parliament Square on Tuesday. Account director Martin Minns said the focus would now be on ‘behind the scenes lobbying’ rather than more stunts.
