Tulip Computers, the third largest European computer manufacturer,

has hired hi-tech specialist BourneRiver to co-ordinate its pan-European

PR activities and to carry out work in the UK.

BourneRiver beat Kinross and Render to the pounds 125,000 account in a

two-way pitch last week, after Tulip spoke to a total of 15

consultancies, including the incumbent of two years Worldview.

BourneRiver will co-ordinate Tulip’s in-house and agency resources

across ten European countries, working with Imageware in Italy, Foxroad

in Belgium and Lineas de Communication in Spain. In the UK, BourneRiver

will also be responsible for promoting Tulip primarily to the business

community.

The appointment follows Tulip’s acquisition of PC producer Commodore

last month. Tulip had previously focused on the corporate market, but

with the acquisition of Commodore it plans to move into the retail

sector.

’Tulip has a strong set of brand values which have been latterly

under-used,’ said BourneRiver director Matthew Bantock. ’The challenge

is to raise the profile of the brand to its previous position.’
