Yorkshire Electricity has handed the media relations account for
its launch into the gas market to London PR agency Paragon
Communications.
The agency is handling media relations for the energy firm as it
prepares to supply consumers with gas in Scotland and the North East
from next month, and then Yorkshire from next February.
Deregulation in the gas market began last year when consumers in the
South West test area were the offered the chance to buy gas from
companies other than British Gas. It is set to be rolled out nationally
next April.
Paragon will also help Yorkshire Electricity to expand its business
customer base.
Yorkshire will compete with Norweb in the North West. Yorkshire
Electricity was bought earlier this year by US firms American Electric
Power Co and Public Service Co.
’Changing consumers’ minds about where to buy their gas is an exciting
PR challenge,’ said Paragon board director Charlotte Blenkinsop.
’Working with the Yorkshire Electricity team, we’ve come up with a range
of activity that will at least ensure consumers consider the options.’
