City-based Cameron McKenna, the eighth largest law firm in Europe,
has selected GCI to handle its global PR following a three-way
pitch.
Financial Dynamics, which had run the account, and Burson-Marsteller
also pitched.
Cameron McKenna is the result of a merger in May between two City law
firms, Cameron Markby Hewitt and McKenna and Co. Fishburn Hedges handled
the public relations surrounding the merger, although Financial Dynamics
had handled PR for McKenna and then for the new firm, until the
pitch.
Cameron McKenna senior marketing manager Andrew Powell said the merger
was the primary reason for the PR review.
The new firm has 12 offices, with three in the UK. There are also
offices in Washington DC, Moscow, Tashkent, Almaty (Kazakstan), Hong
Kong, Brussels, Budapest, Prague and Warsaw. There are 155 partners and
1,300 staff.
The brief is for corporate media relations advice and also for trade
press work for the firm’s independent group practices. Specialist areas
for the group includes construction, life sciences, property and
utilities.
Powell added that the three PR firms were invited to pitch because they
all had experience of legal and professional services PR. Another
requirement was that the public relations firms needed to have an
international network of offices or established associations.
