Arriva, the recently renamed bus operator and vehicle hire company,
has brought in Gavin Anderson to handle its financial PR.
Gavin Anderson is the first retained financial agency for Arriva, which
was formerly known as the Cowie Group before a name change earlier this
Arriva owns several bus operations including British Bus Group which
runs a range of local services across the UK. A bid for Lutonian Bus
Services, which runs bus services in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, is
currently being examined by the competition and consumer affairs
minister Nigel Griffiths.
The transport group provides vehicle hire services and has a finance
division which provides services such as management of company car
Gavin Anderson will work initially on communicating the benefits of
Arriva’s restructuring which involves plans to separate its car finance
division to focus on its bus services and motor division. The finance
division will either be sold off or listed as a separate company.
Despite a series of recent acquisitions Arriva, which also re-sells hire
vehicles, has had difficulties and has had to issue profit warnings due
to a decline in used car prices. Arriva made pre-tax profits of pounds
101 million last year on a turnover of pounds 1.4 billion.
