SmithKline Beecham has appointed Shire Hall Communications to

develop a consumer PR campaign for the re-launch of Panadol, one of the

UK’s top five over-the-counter analgesic brands.

The healthcare communications specialists were appointed to the pounds

150,000 account without a competitive pitch. Shire Hall already provides

PR support for Smith-Kline Beecham’s pharmaceutical vaccines, its Requip

product for Parkinson’s disease and Solpadeine, another product in its

analgesic range.

SmithKline Beecham’s last PR push for Panadol was two years ago through

Complete Pharma PR. Mark Cooper, SmithKline Beecham’s senior product

manager, said: ’Shire Hall has consistently provided a high level of

service to support us in achieving our goal, it has proved its ability

in making our message stand out.’

Antonia Betts, account director at Shire Hall said the main task will be

to raise awareness of Panadol through regional and consumer press

activity.
