Porter Novelli International has become the largest owned group of

consultancies in Europe, as revealed in the 1998 PR Week European League

tables, published this week.

The group increased its fee income by 13 per cent in 1997 to pounds

46,495,000.

All its agencies across Europe have now been rebranded with the Porter

Novelli name.

Euro RSCG, whose fee income fell by six per cent over the same period,

was pushed into second place on the owned groups table. However, the

agency retains its position as the largest in France and the

second-largest in Germant, where it was beaten by Kohtes and Klewes.

The largest network of independent agencies in Europe is still Worldcom,

which consolidated its position with an increase of 52 per cent in fee

income last year, bringing it to over pounds 42 million.

The Europe-wide trend for flotations, as well as more liberal telecoms

markets have led to growth in financial PR and investor relations.
