Association for Financial Markets names comms director

The Association for Financial Markets in Europe has appointed Rob McIvor as its first comms director. McIvor spent six years at the Financial Services Authority, where he was head of media relations, before joining Citigroup as MD, corporate affairs EMEA. Since leaving Citigroup in 2008 he has worked as a consultant, including heading external relations for Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Banking.

Scottish Resources Group, the UK's largest surface coal producer, has called in FD and Weber Shandwick. FD will look after the group's UK comms, highlighting the company's critical position as a provider of coal for electricity generation. Weber Shandwick's Edinburgh-based team will handle regional comms in Scotland.

Hymans Robertson, the UK specialist in benefits and investments, has handed Hill & Knowlton's Financial & Professional Services team a brief to manage its PR on a retained basis. The agency won the account, which includes responsibility for sister company Club Vita, following a competitive pitch.

Bell Pottinger North has been appointed to build and manage the reputation of national law firm DWF following a five-way pitch.

CPP Group has brought in Tulchan Communications to handle its intended float on the London Stock Exchange. CPP Group is a provider of 'life assistance' services, specialising in card protection, identity protection and mobile phone insurance.

Barclays Corporate has appointed Daniel Hunter as head of media relations after the new business was spun out of Barclays Commercial.
