NEWS: Lord to leave Hilton following PR shake-up

Catherine Lord, director of corporate affairs for Hilton International, has left the company following a PR shake-up within parent company Ladbroke Group.

Catherine Lord, director of corporate affairs for Hilton International,

has left the company following a PR shake-up within parent company

Ladbroke Group.

Lord, who held the post for four years, left Hilton last Friday after

accepting a redundancy package. She is presently abroad and it is

unclear if she will take up a similar post elsewhere.

Aided by one secretary, Lord was responsible for promoting the Hilton

hotel brand around the world, except for the US. PR for hotels in the UK

remains the responsibility of director of PR Julia Clark.

Lord’s role will be taken over by Ladbroke’s head of corporate affairs

Stephen Devany who already handles PR for the group’s betting and gaming

interests.

Devany explained that Lord’s departure had been prompted by

organisational changes which will see Ladbroke move its central London

head office to Watford, where Hilton International is already based. The

company, he said, wanted to avoid the duplication of roles at the

enlarged headquarters.

‘We are trying to operate on the same level as before and want to run

the combined divisions without any overlap in responsibilities,’ he

said.

Devany added that the reorganisation and Lord’s departure were not

related to talks between Ladbroke and Hilton Hotels Corporation of the

US about forging closer links. Ladbroke owns the Hilton brand worldwide,

while HHC owns it in the US.
