Becque to drive PR for GE leasing

GE Capital Fleet Services, one of the top four fleet leasing and management companies in the UK, has appointed Geoff Becque as its first director of corporate communications.

GE Capital Fleet Services, one of the top four fleet leasing and

management companies in the UK, has appointed Geoff Becque as its first

director of corporate communications.

As well as representing GE’s fleet services arm in the UK, Becque’s

brief includes its three member businesses: Avis Fleet Services,

Leasecontracts and Cochranes Fleet Services, which services the public

sector.

In the newly-created post, he will oversee a communications budget of

pounds 250,000 in the coming year, 40 per cent of which will be spent on

PR.

’GE’s stated aim is to be number one or two in any country that they are

operating in,’ said Becque. ’Part of the PR effort this year is to put

that position across.’

The company, which runs 72,000 vehicles in the UK and 240,000 in 27

European countries, has used Oxford Public Relations for four years and

intends to continue the relationship on an exclusive basis.

Two of its main UK competitors are PHH Allstar, a fleet and fuel

management company with 200,000 vehicles, and Lex Vehicle Leasing, with

84,000 vehicles.

Becque was one of the founders of Leasecontracts, which was acquired by

GE in October 1995, at which point he assumed the position of director,

international and key accounts. His responsibilities at Leasecontracts

included PR, communications and marketing.
