Brunswick’s Wagland makes an Allied landing

Allied Dunbar has hired Brunswick associate director Jeff Wagland as its new head of PR.

Allied Dunbar has hired Brunswick associate director Jeff Wagland

as its new head of PR.

Allied’s pounds 50,000-plus appointment comes as the pensions and life

assurance company looks to widen the scope of its promotional and

consumer PR through its 15-strong communications team, beyond just media

relations.

Allied recently signed a pounds 7.5 million sponsorship deal with Rugby

Union clubs in the two top divisions, and announced it was looking at

other sports as well as other projects.

Wagland starts on 9 June, and replaces Christina Bowman who left at the

beginning of the year to join insurance and holiday firm Saga.

Wagland ran the press office at Nationwide Building Society and spent

six years at the Household Mortgage Corporation press office before

joining Brunswick in 1995.

At Brunswick, Wagland worked on the Sun Life and Provincial flotation,

did work for the Britannia Building Society and worked on the demerger

of Imperial Tobacco from Hanson.

His experience at Brunswick will be valuable at Allied, which is the

subject of a potential demerger from its BAT Industries parent.

Bob Gill, Allied’s corporate affairs director, said day-to-day public

relations would continue to be done by the in-house team, and Mainland

PR would be retained for strategic PR advice.
