Peter Fitch leaves his current role in April to take the job of head of communications at the British insurance market.

Fitch has been at the DWP since 2007, which he joined from being an associate director at Fishburn Hedges. He replaces Louise Shield.

Fitch will oversee around 30 people in his new role and will report to chief executive Richard Ward. Current priorities for Lloyd's include its growth into international markets such as China and South America.

At DWP he works alongside comms director Sue Garrard, who was a former colleague at Fishburn Hedges. Fitch leads the national and regional media teams.

Fitch has also worked at the London Mayor’s office, where he led the transport and environment team as senior press officer.

The top comms role at Lloyds of London has formerly been occupied by former Downing Street PR adviser David Peel.
