Flack: (Saving) on expenses - Public House, London N1

Reviewer Gemma Hunt, associate director, Unity

- What is it good for?

It's a boho-chic apartment-style eating house in Islington - perfect if you have a small group of clients who appreciate the personal touch. There are sharing tables, dripping candles and everything in the interior is actually for sale. The quality of food and drink is phenomenal.

- Signature dish

The menu is seasonal and can change weekly, but the slow-cooked veal fillet with chestnut risotto and girolle mushrooms is to die for.

- Who's the boss?

Simon Sheena, who played a central role in Loungelover, with support from Matt Perovetz, who has been instrumental in The Player and 43 South Molton Street.

- Tips please?

There's a beautiful antique glass table in the centre of the restaurant area - make sure you request it if you're going for the wow factor. Try a Freezing Montgomery (near-frozen gin mixed with French white vermouth at a ratio of 15:1).

- What's the damage?

Very reasonable. A main course is about £13. The amazing cocktails are £7.95 and a bottle of house wine is £16.95.
