PC chip giant Intel has appointed Gail Hall as UK public relations
manager - the third to hold the post in a year and a half. Hall will
head a team of four reporting to Intel’s Munich-based European director
of PR Armin Vogel.
She joins from Berkshire agency Mmd where she was account director in
the IT/telecoms division, working on Compaq, Oki Systems and BT.
Hall replaces Doug Walker who quit after just five months last autumn
stating ‘it was a case of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole’
(PR Week, 6 October 1995)
Before Walker arrived the post was held by Daniella Thomas who resigned
in September 1994.
Commenting on the rapid turnover of staff in the position, Hall told PR
Week: ‘PR people are often difficult to place in large companies but I
like the structure. In-house I can make much more of an impact,’ she
Intel’s Munich-based central PR is responsible for producing PR material
for the company’s European offices.
In the UK the company retains DPA to work on its networking products. It
also uses The Practice and Paragon, of which Walker is now associate
director, on a project basis.
