GCI Europe has appointed Ralf Hering as its new chairman with the

task of implementing plans for pan-European centres of excellence.

He will head a three-person team, which includes the new post of

European marketing and development director for which GCI Europe will

recruit in the next few months.

Hering, 41, a managing partner of Hering Schuppener GCI in Germany, took

over from chairman, Jerome Lascombe, last week. Lascombe retains his

post as managing partner of GCI Moreau Lascombe Paris.

Hering will establish six centres of excellence - for corporate

communications in Frankfurt, financial and investor relations in London,

public affairs in Brussels, IT communications in Paris, healthcare in

London and consumer marketing in London.

’We want to make sure international clients are handled seamlessly.

Local groups will keep their responsibility for local markets and the

centres of excellence will be for international clients who need one

face to talk to,’ said Hering.

The chair of GCI Europe is a three-year revolving position, and Hering

takes with him the headquarters of GCI Europe, which move from Paris to

Dusseldorf. He reports directly to Bob Feldman, president and CEO of GCI

Group in New York and Ed Meyer, chairman of the agency’s parent company,

Grey Worldwide.
