Clifford Chance, the UK’s largest law firm in terms of fees earned,
is reviewing its corporate and financial PR account with Lowe Bell
Financial and is deciding whether to appoint PR advisers outside the
Tom Rose, media relations manager at Clifford Chance, said: ’We are
reviewing the situation and thinking about our options. There is a new
remit for PR in our organisation and scope for change.’
Rose added that Clifford Chance’s PR focus will change to reflect the
firm’s increasingly international outlook. Some 42 per cent of its
pounds 300 million fee income is derived from outside the UK. However,
it uses just one agency outside the UK. Spanish agency Albion handles PR
for its Madrid and Barcelona offices.
He confirmed that Lowe Bell Financial’s account is under review and
there is still a decision to be made on whether to appoint an agency
with an international network or local agencies. Clifford Chance may
continue to use a separate UK agency.
According to the International Financial Law Review’s figures Clifford
Chance is the world’s second-largest law firm. It employs 260 partners
and has built a considerable presence in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Clifford Chance is currently opening offices in France, Germany and
Italy and may require PR support in these markets. It has recently won
major accounts in Europe such as advising on the merger of the Swiss
Bank Corporation and Union Bank of Switzerland.
