GJA Communications has emerged as the PR agency behind breakaway bingo

organisation, the British Bingo Operators Asociation (BBOA).

The agency has been hired to lobby the Government to introduce new

legislation making it easier for bingo halls to market themselves.

Operators are currently restricted in terms of prize levels and their

ability to advertise.

GJA kicked off its work for the BBOA this week by arranging a publicity

stunt at 10 Downing Street, where a petition calling for less

restrictive legislation was presented.

The BBOA was formed in September after Gala Clubs and Top Rank-Mecca

withdrew their membership from the Bingo Association of Great Britain

(BAGB) claiming the organisation was not adequately representing its

members’ interests.

But the BAGB, which represents 190 independent bingo clubs, says the

existing legislation helps to maintain a level playing field between the

large and small players.

The BAGB account is currently held by Attenborough Associates.
